thank you very much to everyone who voted in the Presidential Election – votes were 50% up on last time, and hopefully we can continue to build engagement over the coming year, starting with elections for Treasurer and Tournament Director coming up in the next few months. To avoid having lots of elections at the same time in future, we are going to elect a TD for 3 years this time around, and so then there will be 2 elections at the beginning of each calendar year.
It was a very close result, and I would like to start by paying my respects to Beppe, a hugely respected President who presided over the biggest Blood Bowl event of all time. I will certainly be turning to him regularly for advice and input, including on projects such as the new website, which was one of the main elements of most of the last few Presidential elections! Speaking of which, Shteve0 is taking the lead on the new site, and both are inboxes are burning with ideas. Also to assist with this, there is an ongoing request for a Blood Bowl enthusiast and IT professional who would be interested in being the NAF webmaster. Along with that post, I was very happy that Jim Luft agreed to take over as Media Officer, who is putting together a first newsletter as I write this, and will be taking the lead on social media posting.
I talked during the election about boosting the role of the Tournament Co-ordinators, and have been in touch with the TCs about this already, receiving loads of useful feedback from them about the role, and from the wider BB community about what the name should be!
The first committee meeting went well, with a total of 19 hours time difference across the committee. There are still other staffing changes to put in place, as a lot of long-serving members are moving on, but NAF work does take a lot of energy so this is only to be expected.
So lots already happening, but also lots to do! In addition to the minutes of NAF meetings, I will also be trying to write blog posts as we go through to give a personal flavour to NAF business. Do get in touch with any of NAF committee if you have ideas for helping the BB community or particularly if you would like to get involved!
