Following a thorough bid process, the NAF is very happy to announce that World Cup 4 in 2019 will take place in Dornbirn, in Austria. The bid was put together by a joint team from Germany, Switzerland and Austria, with full details in this document, which contains details of the venue, accommodation, cost and transport links – it would be wrong to try to summarise those without the accompanying information, so please do take a few minutes to read the document.
There was very strong competition from the bid from the Isle of Wight, and the NAF would like to thank that team for putting in so much preparation – a World Cup there would also have been a wonderful occasion.
Both bids were submitted to a team of around 30 Blood Bowl players from around the world, who spent weeks considering them before voting anonymously.
For those unfamiliar with the concept of the World Cup, you can read more on this site, but fundamentally it is a very large team tournament, with teams being made up of 6 coaches, competing to represent their league or part of the world. Anyone is allowed to enter, and the last WC in Lucca had over 900 competitors. You can see details of that tournament using this search.
The World Cup will take place from 3rd – 6th October 2019, so is a while away, but you can ask initial questions on this thread on TFF. The @nafworldcup2019 Twitter account is also up and running!
See you in Dornbirn!
